I was listening to 'Yr Atal Genhedlaeth' today for the first time in yonks. Yeh, it's still pretty good. Forget Stereophonics, MSP - SFA and Gorky's are, for me, the only succesful Welsh bands who both sound good and undeniably Welsh. Not just in accent; but in the very roots of their music. You listen to Gruff Rhys, and you get the feeling that he has been to Llangranog.
That's right - Japanese version, babyAnyway, the album is also in Welsh. I don't get to hear or speak much Welsh anymore - it's more like some coherent dream.
There's no doubting though that Welsh sounds great in songs. Welsh is so much fun - so camp.
In any language, there are words that make you smile just by saying or hearing them. I would like to collect all of them, Pokemon style. I'm gonna start with some Welsh ones - feel free to add to the list.
I'm gonna cheat and use some phrases too.

I do believe theres a new Gruff Rhys album out very soon, if not already - its called Candylion, sounds pretty cool. Less Welsh mutterings on it this time though. Probably for the best! ;)
I suppose I should now say something amusing in well. Er... Hoyaddyn? Is that how you spell it?
Pretty close - it's 'hoyw'. A pretty ugly way to spell a word.
Anyway, that's not a funny-sounding word - it's a word with (possible [had to put this in to be pc]) funny connotations.
But, seeing as you are;
a) not even blessed to be Welsh
b) one of only two people who regularly comment here

Oh, and I want that album now that you've brought it to my attention. I'll ask my brother to get it for me, then I'll get it sometime in the future (an apocoplypic one, no doubt - Rutger Hauer will deliver it personally) The albums name is Candles I guess. I had an accident with a candle tonight. Got purple wax on the tablecloth. The wick took me by surprise! The other (yellow) table cloth is already covered in blue wax.
Guess I should quit watching that Madonna movie so much.
